National Minorities Commission Chairman Iqbal Singh Lalpura on Friday celebrated Guru Nanak’s 555th birth anniversary at his residence here with a large number of political leaders, bureaucrats, MPs and personalities from the film industry in attendance.

Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal was also there. On the occasion, the sangat was enthralled with Gurbani kirtan by the jathas of Bhai Amandeep Singh and Bhai Anantveer Singh from California.

Meghwal narrated a sakhi of Guru Nanak Dev, while Lalpura extended heartfelt greetings to the sangat on Gurpurb.

Lalpura highlighted that the arrival of Baba Nanak on earth dispelled darkness and brought light to the world. He urged everyone to follow the path of love and embrace the teachings of the ‘Jagat Guru’ for a successful and fulfilling life.

The event was compered by acclaimed educationist Jaswinder Singh Dhillon. A major highlight was a spectacular laser show depicting the life of Guru Nanak Dev, which created a divine atmosphere, moving the sangat to tears. The ceremony concluded with the serving of Guru Ka Langar.

Prominent attendees included Union Minister Harsh Malhotra, World Cancer Care Chief Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal, former Cabinet Minister Meenakshi Lekhi, Delhi Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee President Harmeet Singh Kalka and MP Manoj Tiwari.

Representing the Punjabi film industry were Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi, Dev Kharoud, Varinder Singh Binnu Dhillon and folk singer Pammi Bai. Advocate HS Phoolka was also among those present.
