People from all walks of life, including retired senior officials, former ambassadors, military officers, and civil servants, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday. The joining ceremony was held at the residence of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.

Among the new members were former Lieutenant Generals, Major Generals, a former vice chairperson of the National Commission for Minorities, a former Chancellor of the Maulana Azad University, and ex-chairpersons of Maharatna public sector undertakings. BJP leaders Neelkant Bakshi and Impreet Singh were also present at the event. The new BJP members expressed their support for PM Modi’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat”. They condemned what they described as divisive forces threatening national unity and criticised comments made by Rahul Gandhi.

Puri remarked, “Unity and integrity of our nation are paramount. Making baseless statements on foreign soil raises serious questions. This is not the political discourse we aspire for.” He added, “Today’s event marks the addition of 19 individuals to the BJP. They have joined the party as they are impressed with India’s economic progress and development under Modi’s leadership.”
