Delhi Mayor Mahesh Kumar visited the Municipal Corporation of Delhi's slaughterhouse in Ghazipur to assess its operations and cleanliness standards on Saturday. He was accompanied by local councillor Bunty Gautam, Additional Commissioner Pankaj Naresh Aggarwal and senior officials, including Deputy Director of the Veterinary Department, SK Yadav.

Mayor Kumar expressed satisfaction with the slaughterhouse's cleanliness and stated it met acceptable hygiene standards. "The primary goal of the Aam Aadmi Party is to ensure that Delhi remains clean. We will not tolerate any negligence in maintaining hygiene," the mayor said.

However, he stressed the need for the slaughterhouse to operate in compliance with environmental regulations. "Special attention must be given to ensure the facility adheres to environmental standards," he added. A senior official from the company managing the slaughterhouse reassured the mayor that animal remains were being disposed of using scientific methods designed to minimise environmental impact.

Mayor Kumar addressed the problem of illegal animal slaughter, a growing concern in the area. "We have been receiving complaints about illegal slaughter and we are working on a comprehensive plan to tackle this problem," he stated. He directed officials concerned to take necessary steps to clean the surrounding areas, including ‘Murga Mandi’, a prominent market in the region known for its unsanitary conditions.

Mayor Kumar reaffirmed the city's commitment to cleanliness and environmental safety. He emphasised all operations, including those at the slaughterhouse, must meet the highest standards of hygiene and regulatory compliance.
