New Delhi, August 18

Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav and Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva launched a scathing attack on former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia over his recent padayatras across the city, accusing him of attempting to mislead public.

“What can a man, who spent 17 months in jail on corruption and money laundering charges in connection with the liquor scam, after being denied of bail several times, tell people of Delhi? Would he share his experiences in jail or express his sorrow to the people for betraying them by committing fraud at the behest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal?” Yadav asked.

Yadav further accused Kejriwal of refusing to cooperate with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) by evading summons, which delayed the trial of the accused in the liquor scam case.

“Perhaps these are the explanations Sisodia would be possibly giving to the people during his padayatras,” he added.

Yadav also took a jab at Sisodia for not beginning his padayatra in his own constituency, Patparganj, saying Sisodia lacked the courage to face people there.

“No wonder Sisodia received a lukewarm response when he announced the padayatra from Atishi’s constituency of Kalkaji first before Patparganj. His photos with people were all stage-managed affairs to fool the media,” he claimed.

He urged Sisodia to focus on pressing issues like repairing broken roads, clearing garbage, and addressing the city’s drainage problems, which have led to numerous cases of vector-borne diseases, electrocution and drowning.

“It was startling to learn that since January 2023, nearly 26 persons have died due to electrocution with 14 losing their lives in the past one and a half months, as power companies have not bothered to repair dilapidated infrastructure with loose and exposed electricity wires causing most of deaths due to electrocution,” Yadav pointed out.

Similarly, Sachdeva urged Sisodia to stop spreading confusion about the charges against Deoli MLA Prakash Jarwal, who was convicted for abetting the suicide of a doctor.

“The public wants to know why AAP leaders are shielding Jarwal, who is responsible for Deoli’s deteriorating condition,” he asked.
