Delhi BJP slams Health Minister for ‘inaction’ in doctor harassment case
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva condemned the harassment of a woman doctor by the Medical Superintendent at a Delhi government hospital. Sachdeva criticised Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj for his silence on the matter until it gained media attention, stating that the public is now witnessing “the double face of AAP leaders”.
“The Delhi BJP strongly denounces Bharadwaj’s silence, especially given that he had full knowledge of this case,” Sachdeva remarked. He further labelled MP Sanjay Singh’s recent letter to the Lieutenant-Governor as a “shameless act”, implying that Singh was attempting to divert attention from the AAP government’s “inaction” in the case.
Sachdeva explained that Singh was fully aware that the L-G had recommended the suspension of the Medical Superintendent back in November 2023 to the National Capital Civil Service Authority (NCCSA), which was chaired by then Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. “Despite 11 months passing, neither Kejriwal nor Atishi convened an NCCSA meeting to implement the L-G’s recommendation,” he noted, accusing Bharadwaj, Kejriwal and Atishi of being the “real culprits” in this situation.
Criticising Singh, he said, “Instead of writing to the L-G, he should have called Kejriwal or Atishi to inquire why the Medical Superintendent has not been suspended yet, despite the L-G’s directives since November 2023.”
