Day before SC verdict on NEET row, students demand dissolution of NTA

A day before the anticipated verdict of the Supreme Court regarding the NEET controversy, students gathered at Jantar Mantar to express their grievances and demand justice for those affected by alleged misconduct of the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Organised by the All India Students’ Association (AISA), the protest called for accountability and reforms within the NTA. Students highlighted concerns over what they termed as “complete structural corruption” within the NTA and raised allegations of complicity involving Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The primary demands voiced at the protest included a retest for NEET 2024 to uphold the integrity of the examination process and safeguard the future prospects of affected students. Dhananjay, president of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU), emphasised the need for the Supreme Court to address the alleged flaws in the NTA’s testing procedures and hold accountable those responsible.
Abhigyan, president of AISA Delhi, criticised both the NTA and Education Minister, asserting, “The NTA and the Education Minister have lost all credibility. We trust that the honourable Bench will come down harshly on those who have jeopardised the futures of 40 lakh lives.” He characterised the situation as a network of corruption originating from top officials, calling for immediate action against what he described as an organised crime operation within the NTA.
In addition to the protest, students released an open letter addressed to the Supreme Court outlining their demands, which include the abolishment of the NTA, the resignation of Education Minister Pradhan, a retest for NEET 2024 and an end to the centralisation of examinations.
