Day after explosion, Rohini school receives hoax bomb threat
A day after an explosion in the Prashant Vihar area of Rohini, a bomb threat email was sent to Venkateshwar Global School, triggering panic on Friday morning, police officials said.
The Delhi Police, along with a bomb disposal squad, dog squad, fire tenders, special cell, cyber cell and special staff of the crime branch, arrived at the school to handle the situation. After a thorough search, the authorities confirmed the threat was a hoax.
Police officials said the school made a PCR call at 10.55 am reporting the bomb threat. “Upon receiving the call, senior officers and staff immediately reached the spot,” a police officer said.
The school management swiftly evacuated the premises to ensure the safety of students and staff. “The school was evacuated by the management, and a thorough check was carried out by the team,” the official added.
After extensive inspections, no suspicious objects were found on the premises. However, the source of the threat email was being verified, the police said.
The authorities confirmed they are investigating the origin of the email and that legal action will be taken accordingly.
This is not the first instance of educational institutions being targeted with hoax threats. Meanwhile, the Delhi Police have registered an FIR in connection with the explosion near a cinema hall in Rohini.
The police confirmed that the blast occurred in a scooter and white powder was recovered from the scene. The case has been registered against unidentified persons.
