Criminal on the run for 17 years held
The Nuh police have arrested a criminal who had been on the run for 17 years in connection with a robbery case. The accused, who had been living under the guise of a monk to evade, also faces charges related to illegal weapons and murder in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
The arrested individual has been identified as Hariom, a resident of Sakrawa village in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. According to the police, a case was filed against Hariom in 2007 at the Firozpur Jhirka police station under robbery and illegal weapons charges. Despite being on the run for nearly two decades, the accused was tracked down during a crime prevention patrol by the CIA team in Tauru. Hariom was arrested on Friday after the team received a tip about his whereabouts.
The police said a total of eight criminal cases are registered against Hariom, including charges in Govardhan and Barsana in Uttar Pradesh and Deeg in Rajasthan. The police have also imposed the Gangster Act against him in a case registered at Barsana police station.
