New Delhi, July 31
A Delhi court on Wednesday reserved its order on an anticipatory bail moved by trainee IAS officer Puja Khedkar, who is accused of “falsifying facts” to avail attempts to clear the Civil Services Examination held by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
Additional Sessions Judge Devender Kumar Jangala of Patiala House Courts reserved the order that will be announced on August 1.
Public prosecutor Atul Srivastava argued that the custodial interrogation of Khedkar was necessary as she had duped the system.
The Delhi Police told the court that Khedkar would not cooperate in the investigation if given bail. However, Khedkar’s counsel said she was willing to cooperate, but sought a stay on her arrest.
Khedkar’s counsel Bina Madhavan said she was being witch-hunted because of the harassment complaint she had made against a senior IAS officer. Meanwhile, UPSC counsel, senior advocate Naresh Kaushik, argued that Khedkar had abused the process of law. However, the court questioned the commission’s apparent failure in the case allowing the frauds.
