Due to the construction work going on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway, traffic movement was slow again on Thursday. In the morning, the cops managed the traffic but in the evening, long traffic jams were witnessed between Shankar Chowk and Mahipalpur. The cops were seen making extra efforts to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

Road Advisory

  • The service lanes on the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway will remain closed for a month from September 9 in order to allow NHAI to construct a tunnel from NH-48 to IGI Airport
  • The police recommend using Mehrauli-Gurugram Road and Dwarka crossings as alternatives
  • Commuters are advised to use the Metro or the Airport Express Line for quicker travel
  • Those travelling to IGI Airport should start their journey at least an hour earlier than usual
  • To avoid traffic jams, consider taking the Dwarka Expressway, MG Road, the Old Gurugram-Delhi Road, or other alternative routes

Traffic on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway was slow in the morning but by the evening, it virtually grounded to a halt, with drivers having to endure close to an hour merely to traverse the 8-km stretch between Shankar Chowk and Mahipalpur. On Thursday, the congestion started as early as 5.30 pm, with even the internal roads of Udyog Vihar completely choked.

“When I was returning from my office in Delhi and reached near Shiv Murti, there was a huge traffic jam. It took 45 minutes for a distance of only 6 km to reach Gurugram. Traffic police do their best but during peak hours’ traffic jams are a routine on expressway,” said Kapil Bansal, a resident of Sushant Lok.
