Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Devender Yadav has slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for its ineffective Winter Action Plan, which he claims has failed to address the severe air pollution crisis in the capital. Following Diwali, the air quality levels in Delhi have become hazardous, raising serious health concerns among residents.

Yadav stated, “The AAP government’s farcical efforts have done little to control air pollution, which soared after Diwali. Their plan to deploy anti-smog guns across all 70 Assembly segments has had minimal impact.”

He emphasised that solutions such as water sprinklers would not suffice without tackling the underlying issues of dust and vehicular emissions. “Without addressing the dust and fumes that hang over the city like a grey blanket, Delhi’s air quality will only worsen,” he warned.

The Congress leader criticised AAP leaders, including Chief Minister Atishi and Environment Minister Gopal Rai, for attributing the pollution spike to firecracker usage on Diwali. “While they blame the celebration for hazardous air, it really points to their incompetence and failure to enforce effective measures. The real culprits are the dust from broken roads and vehicular pollution,” Yadav remarked.

Yadav questioned the public’s tolerance for a government that he claimed had failed to protect their health. “Why should the people of Delhi believe AAP leaders who do nothing to safeguard their lives from toxic air and water?” he asked, accusing the AAP government of neglecting its responsibilities while its leaders enjoyed comfortable living conditions.

He also pointed out that Kejriwal’s promise to recarpet broken roads before Diwali had not been fulfilled. “The roads remain as dilapidated as ever, proving that his assurances carry little weight,” Yadav added.
