Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Devender Yadav has urged newly appointed Chief Minister Atishi to address the pressing issues of women’s safety and rising crime in the Capital. Yadav expressed concerns about the increasing number of attacks on women, referring to Delhi as the “Rape Capital” of India.

“Atishi should rise to the occasion to solve the problems of the people, particularly women. Attacks on women have increased significantly,” Yadav stated.

In addition to women’s safety, Yadav called for Atishi to table 11 pending Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports in the Delhi Assembly, which he claims would expose “corruption” within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. “She holds 13 important ministries, and these reports, once presented, will reveal the misappropriation of funds by the AAP government,” he added.

Yadav also reflected on former Congress Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit’s tenure, contrasting her legacy with the current administration. “When the Congress was in power, Delhi had a strong woman leader in Dikshit, who oversaw unprecedented development. The Kejriwal government, however, has reversed much of that progress with years of neglect and misgovernance,” he added.

Addressing Kejriwal’s resignation as Chief Minister, Yadav accused him of evading accountability in light of corruption allegations. “Kejriwal, who constantly speaks of honesty, was compelled to resign under the restrictions imposed by the Supreme Court, which barred him from signing official files. He should have resigned six months ago when he was sent to jail in connection with the liquor scam,” he said.
