Briefly: Verdict in Sajjan case on Dec 16
A Delhi court on Friday deferred its verdict in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case involving former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar, scheduling the matter for December 16. Special Judge Kaveri Baweja said “certain clarifications are required”, and directed the case for clarification or re-arguments on that date. The case pertains to the killing of Jaswant Singh and his son, Tarundeep Singh, at Saraswati Vihar on November 1, 1984, following the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Students’ deaths: Bail of 4 extended
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday extended the interim bail of four basement co-owners — Sarabjit Singh, Parvinder Singh, Tejinder Singh and Harvinder Singh — in the RAU’s IAS Study Circle case from Old Rajinder Nagar. Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma granted the extension until January 21, 2025. The Supreme Court had earlier stayed the condition imposed by the High Court requiring the accused to deposit Rs 2.5 crore with the Red Cross Society as a condition for their interim bail granted on September 13.
