The Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested a criminal-turned-builder who was living in Mumbai for the last 15 years, officials said on Saturday. Imran Hashmi was involved in 26 cases of dacoity, robbery, theft and cheating and those registered under the Arms Act in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, the police said. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Bhisham Singh said Hashmi was a member of the Ramzan Pehalwan gang and was declared a PO in three cases of dacoity and theft in Delhi 15 years ago. pti

Man held for Grocery scam

Gurugram: The Gurugram police have arrested a man for allegedly cheating people by pretending to sell grocery items online at discounted rates. The police recovered a mobile phone and SIM card used in the fraudulent activities from the accused, identified as Jacky Hezro, a resident of Patna, Bihar. Eight cases of cheating have been registered against the accused in West Bengal, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh. The Cyber Crime West police station team arrested him on Friday in the Sector 99 area. During interrogation, it was revealed that Hezro had created a website named ‘Credit Mort’ to sell grocery items at low rates. However, he would collect payments from victims without delivering any goods, said the Gurugram police. oc
