Briefly: Nigerian among 2 held with drugs
The Delhi Police on Thursday claimed to have busted an international drug trafficking cartel and arrested two people, including a Nigerian national, after recovering 6,790 MDMA (ecstasy) tablets from them, officials said. The seized contraband is worth Rs 4 crore. The officials said the MDMA was traced to suppliers in Delhi-NCR, with connections to distribution channels extending into Himachal and Goa, and confirmed sources of certain drugs traced back to the Capital, indicating a complex inter-national operation. The accused have been identified as Santan Goswami and Ikechukwu.
Four wedding thieves nabbed
New Delhi: Four men belonging to an infamous gang of wedding thieves were arrested from the Delhi-Gurugram border, the police said on Thursday. Raj Kumar, alias Raju (50), Sumit (30), Mohit (19) and Karan (30) were arrested from near the Ghitorni Metro station on Wednesday, when they were planning to target a wedding. According to Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjay Bhatia, the thieves belong to the ‘Band Baja Baraat’ gang, which gets active during the wedding season. The four hail from Kadiya village of Rajgarh, a region notorious for supplying young recruits to organised crime syndicates.
