Lieutenant-Governor VK Saxena on Wednesday reviewed the status and performance of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) sports complexes and directed efforts to promote sports, setting a target of winning at least five medals from these complexes at the 2036 Olympics, according to Raj Niwas officials. They also announced that an L-G Cup for Archery and Shooting will be introduced, modelled on the L-G Cup for Golf.
Woman falls off scooter, dies
A 47-year-old woman was crushed under the wheels of an MCD truck after she fell from a scooter that was hit by an unidentified vehicle near Nauroji Nagar area here on Wednesday, the police said. The woman’s husband sustained minor injuries in the accident that took place in the evening. Har Devi and her husband, Shyam Charan (49), were on their way to Nangloi when the vehicle hit them from behind.
15-year-old Boy beaten to death
A 15-year-old boy was thrashed to death following an altercation with another individual in Anand Vihar, an official said on Wednesday. The incident occurred around 1 pm when the boy was on his way to Sai Mandir with his cousin and their friend to have langar. As the trio reached Nala Road, the boy got into an argument with another person. The situation escalated when the accused picked up a wooden stick from the roadside and struck the victim multiple times on the head from behind.
