For the second time this week, several schools in the National Capital received bomb threats via email which included as many as seven prominent schools, police officials said on Friday.

Police said that around 30 schools received bomb threats on mail, however, nothing suspicious was found during the search, turning out to be hoax calls.

On December 9, similar hoax e-mails were received by several schools in the National Capital. The Delhi Police’s Special Cell had registered a case of criminal intimidation. Similarly, in May more than 250 schools received bomb threats, gripping parents, children and school administration in panic.

A Delhi Fire Services official said, “We received calls (regarding the threat e-mails) from the Bhatnagar International School in Paschim Vihar at 4:21 am, Cambridge School in Sriniwaspuri at 6:23 am and DPS Amar Colony in East of Kailash at 6:35 am.”

Consequently, calls were also received from the South Delhi Public School in Defence Colony at 7:57 am, Delhi Police Public School in Safdarjung at 8:02 am and Venkateshwar Global School in Rohini at 8:30 am, the official added.

Multiple agencies including the Fire Department, police and bomb-detection teams, along with dog squads, rushed to the schools and conducted searches at the premises, concluding that they were hoax emails.

“We received an alert around 5:30 am that some schools have received bomb threats via emails in our district. Schools had been evacuated and bomb disposal squad checked the places. So far the investigation has revealed that it was a hoax call. 30 schools across Delhi including three from our district have received such emails.” said DCP (South East), Ravi Kumar.

Meanwhile, the hoax bomb threats took a political turn as the former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal said this was “extremely serious and worrying”.

“This is the second time in this week that Delhi schools have received bomb threats, which is extremely serious and worrying. If this continues, how badly will it affect the children? What will happen to their studies?” he said in a post on X.

The school authorities had informed parents to not send their wards to school and if they had reached, to take them back.

Sources said that the sender in the e-mail told that there would be bomb blasts in schools on Friday and Saturday.

They said that the e-mail mentioned, “This e-mail is to inform you that there are many explosives in your school premises and I am sure that you all do not check your students’ bags frequently when they enter the school premises.”

“A secret dark web group is involved in this activity and many red rooms also. The bombs are powerful enough to destroy the buildings and harm people. And from today till December 14, means tomorrow, on both days, there is an expected parent-teacher meeting to be happened. And through our dark sources, it is also confirmed that one of the schools involved in all the e-mails is currently conducting marching for their sports day, in which students gather in a field, making a huge crowd, which is a clear advantage, while the building will be left alone with only a few staffs and no one to look around.” The e-mail further said that the explosions could take place on Friday and Saturday. “Reply back to this e-mail for our demands, otherwise the bombs will be detonated,” it added.
