BJP writes to AAP Govt to regularise 10,000 bus marshals
Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, has called on Chief Minister Atishi to take immediate action to regularise 10,000 bus marshals in Delhi. In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister on October 25, Gupta emphasised the urgency of forming a three-member committee to address the issue before the upcoming Assembly elections.
“The time for action is now,” Gupta stated. “The Delhi government must not delay any further. It is essential to form a committee with senior officials from the Finance, Administrative Reform and Transport Departments to create a comprehensive plan for the regularisation of their services.”
Gupta highlighted that the issue was raised by BJP legislators during the Assembly session on September 27, and a resolution was subsequently passed. Following a meeting with the Chief Minister on October 5, Gupta noted, “It was agreed that a committee would be established, yet we have seen no progress since then.”
Referring about a letter from the Lieutenant Governor, he said, “Even the L-G has expressed surprise at the lack of action from the Delhi government,” he added.
Gupta further criticised the government’s handling of the situation, alleging that a Cabinet note sent last year regarding the regularisation was not authentic as it did not have the necessary signatures. “The note was fake. When it comes to their personal interests, the government can draft authentic documents, but for the bus marshals, they resort to deceit.”
The Leader of Opposition accused the Delhi government of misleading the marshals and failing to provide them with the support they need. “I stand firmly with the 10,000 bus marshals,” Gupta vowed.
