Millennium City Gurugram defied anti-incumbency by trusting the BJP for the third consecutive time, as all four Assembly segments elected BJP candidates.

‘People still trust us’

We knew from day one that the Opposition’s social media propaganda would fizzle out. They used videos from Gurugram to create a false sense of anti-incumbency, but we proved that people still trust us and have hope. — Rao Narbir Singh

Rao Narbir Singh emerged as the most celebrated winner from Badshahpur, while debutant Mukesh Sharma won from Gurgaon city, Bimla Chaudhary from Pataudi and Tejpal Tanwar from Sohna. The BJP unit stated that the party’s victory in Gurugram proved that the anti-incumbency sentiment was merely a social media-created hype that fizzled out with the people’s mandate.

“We knew from day one that the social media propaganda of the Opposition would fizzle out. They used videos from Gurugram to create a false sense of anti-incumbency, but we proved that people still trust us and have hope. They chose temporary issues over a permanent era of lawlessness,” said Rao Narbir.

The victory not only redeems the party but also diminishes the narrative of anti-Khattar sentiment in the Millennium City. It is noteworthy that the Opposition has highlighted the reported failures of former CM Manohar Lal Khattar as a key narrative; however, according to the BJP, the victory has established the success of his regime.

The party unit in Gurugram claims that people voted for 10 years of clean, transparent and development-driven governance. “Our re-election for the third time proves that our governance has won. The Khattar-Saini team has proven its mettle and reversed all speculations and exit polls. Gurugram has chosen us, and we will deliver,” said party media coordinator Arvind Saini.

Leaders close to Khattar said his reformist policies, including the “No Bribe, No Slip” regime, clean image and honest leadership, left a profound impact on both urban and rural voters across Haryana.

“The Millennium City saw a significant change in the power scenario after Khattar took over as Power Minister at the Centre. The ‘Har Ghar Bijli’ campaign earned substantial support from rural communities. Reduced power outages and improved complaint redressal drew urban voters in Gurugram. Khattar played a vital role in this victory and will continue to be instrumental in shaping the next government and determining the responsibilities of key leaders,” said a senior BJP leader from Delhi.
