BJP hails rollback of fee hike at sports complexes
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva welcomed Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena’s decision to cancel the recent increase in membership and sports fee imposed by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) at its sports complexes.
This move is being seen as a significant relief for millions of sports enthusiasts across the capital.
Sachdeva, along with MLA Om Prakash Sharma, had previously written to the Lieutenant Governor requesting the reversal of the fee hike.
“The decision to roll back the increased sports complex fees is a special Diwali gift for countless sports lovers in Delhi,” he stated.
He emphasised that this rollback would particularly benefit children from lower-middle-class families who participated in less popular sports such as archery and athletics.
“This decision ensures that sports remain accessible to all, especially for those who may struggle to afford the increased fees,” Sachdeva added.
The fee hike had also affected elderly persons who used to go for morning and evening walks in the sports complexes. "The Lieutenant Governor’s order has provided them much-needed relief," Sachdeva remarked.
