As preparations for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections intensify, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced the formation of a 21-member State Election Committee (SEC) tasked with screening potential candidates. The move comes as the party ramps up its efforts ahead of the crucial polls.The SEC, which was revealed on Wednesday, will play a key role in the selection process of candidates. According to a party insider, the next step would involve the creation of a core committee that will further vet the potential candidates. Ultimately, the final decisions will be made by the central election committee chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The announcement of the state election committee followed a meeting convened by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was joined by BJP Delhi president Virendra Sachdeva and BJP Delhi in-charge Baijayant Panda. The 21-member committee includes several prominent BJP leaders. Delhi BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva, Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta, Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra, and former Union Minister Harsh Vardhan are among its members. Other key members include BJP MPs Manoj Tiwari, Yogender Chandoliya, Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Praveen Khandelwal, and Bansuri Swaraj.
