Former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday vowed to resume the work that had been halted during his incarceration in the excise policy case. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Atishi said 89 roads need to be rebuilt.

The AAP national convener accused the BJP of stalling development projects over the past year. Addressing a press conference alongside Atishi, he assured the public that the AAP government would go all out to complete the work for Delhiites, just as it had done during the nine-year administration.

“For the last nine years, we have made sure you didn’t face any difficulties — whether it’s roads, hospitals, or electricity. We’ve provided all essential services to the people of Delhi. The kind of facilities that Delhiites have received over the past decade are unmatched anywhere else in the country,” he said.

Taking aim at the BJP for halting crucial public welfare projects, Kejriwal condemned what he called a conspiracy by the BJP to imprison AAP ministers.

“Now that I am out of jail, I want to assure everyone that we are focusing on all the pending work and addressing the problems faced by the people of Delhi. The BJP has stopped the supply of medicines, halted free tests in hospitals and mohalla clinics and suspended the Farishtay Yojana,” he added.

He also noted that the BJP had stopped road repairs, old-age pensions and several other initiatives. Salaries for many home guards and other workers were halted as well, he said.

Kejriwal continued, “Now we have resumed all these projects. I have instructed Atishi to restart any work that was paused, and our government is committed to solving the problems faced by the people.”

Meanwhile, Atishi posted on X, stating, “The BJP government at the Centre conspired against Kejriwal to stop the work for the people of Delhi and imprisoned him. But now Delhi’s son is out of jail, and under his leadership, the Delhi Government is working on a war footing to make the city’s roads pothole-free.”

“Last week, all Cabinet Ministers of the Delhi Government and AAP MLAs inspected every inch of the 1,400 km (7,000 lane km) of PWD roads. After inspection, we found that 89 roads need to be rebuilt. Tenders have already been issued for 74 roads, and the remaining 15 are in the tendering process. Additionally, 2.53 lakh sq m of roads need patchwork. In the past week alone, patchwork has been completed on around 40,000 sq m. All remaining work will be completed by October 31, and more than half of the 6,671 potholes have already been filled. The rest will be repaired soon,” her post added.
