Atishi calls BJP ‘anti-poor’, lauds AAP supremo’s governance
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, during her address at the ‘Janta ki Adalat’ at Chhatrasal Stadium here, praised Arvind Kejriwal for being the “only leader” who truly understood the needs of common people. She said in just 10 years, Kejriwal’s government had accomplished what previous governments could not in 75 years since Independence.
Atishi said, “From laying 10,000 km of water pipelines to providing free healthcare and transportation to millions of women, Arvind Kejriwal has revolutionised the city.”

Highlighting the struggles faced before 2015, she recounted, “Delhi used to endure long power outages, with cuts lasting up to eight hours. Families received exorbitant electricity bills, forcing many to cut back on essential expenses.” She also talked about the dire conditions in government schools, where “foul odours from toilets and a lack of basic infrastructure such as tables and chairs” were common.
Kejriwal’s achievements in healthcare were also underscored. “In government hospitals, people would mortgage their jewellery or houses for treatment. Today, treatment in our hospitals and mohalla clinics is completely free, regardless of the cost,” she said.
She further said, “Delhi is the only state where electricity is available 24*7, even in peak summer, and people receive zero electricity bills. This is Kejriwal’s Delhi.” She emphasised the improved performance of government schools, saying, “Parents are moving their children from private schools to government schools, showcasing the transformation.”
Addressing the BJP’s opposition, she stated, “The work done by Kejriwal has disturbed the BJP. On one side is Kejriwal, working for the poor, and on the other is the BJP, an anti-poor party that troubles the impoverished.”
Atishi condemned the BJP’s tactics, saying, “The Central Government is demolishing ‘jhuggis’ across Delhi, making life difficult for the poor. They have stopped pensions for the elderly and widows for the past six months.”
She expressed, “The BJP is anti-poor. Their children become the chairmen of BCCI while the children of common people struggle.” Atishi accused the BJP of indulging in dirty politics and said, “Yesterday, the BJP’s actions were exposed; they failed to deliver on promises made in front of the Assembly.”
Atishi concluded by defending Kejriwal against what she described as a conspiracy by the BJP. “When Kejriwal was granted bail, it was a slap on the face of the Centre. Any other leader would return to power immediately, but Kejriwal wants the trust of the people of Delhi. He will only resume his role as the Chief Minister when the people repose their faith in him,” she asserted.
