Ammo found inside Air India flight, probe launched
The police are investigating a security breach after a live cartridge was found in the seat pocket of an Air India flight that had recently arrived from Dubai, police officials said on Saturday. Officials said that the incident occurred on October 27 during routine cleaning.
DCP (IGI Airport), Usha Rangnani said, “An Air India staff member found the live round of ammunition during routine cleaning on the flight.” A case under the Arms Act has been registered and a formal probe launched.
Air India confirmed the incident in a statement, “One ammunition cartridge was found in the pocket of a seat of our flight AI916 after it had landed from Dubai at Delhi on October 27, and all passengers had safely disembarked.” The airline said they strictly adhered to the security protocols. This incident occured against the backdrop of heightened tension as security agencies reportedly received over 400 hoax calls in the last two weeks alone.
