Leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party took to the streets on Friday to protest the arrest of party MLA Amanatullah Khan near the BJP headquarters.
Khan, the AAP MLA from Okhla, was arrested by the ED in a money laundering case linked to the alleged financial irregularities in the Delhi Waqf Board.
The AAP claimed that it was a “fabricated” case and accused the BJP of using Central agencies like the ED and CBI to target Opposition leaders. Several AAP MLAs and supporters gathered at their old office before marching to the BJP headquarters.
Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia, in a post on X, said, “To stay in power, the BJP adopts the tactics of ‘Saam, Daam, Dand, Bhed’. First, it tries to break the party, and when the party members do not break, it sends government agencies after the leaders.”
Dilip Pandey, senior AAP leader, said, “BJP’s blatant ‘goondagardi’ (hooliganism) and authoritarian politics is not hidden from anyone. The CBI registered this so-called Waqf Board scam case in 2016, but for six years, they neither arrested Khan nor filed any chargesheet. When they finally did, there was no mention of financial corruption.”
