AAP names Kejriwal’s alleged attackers, BJP says no FIR filed
The political rivalry between the AAP and BJP has intensified following allegations that BJP ‘goons’ attacked AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal during a padyatra event in Delhi on Friday.
Kejriwal Continues Padyatra
AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal continued his padyatra in Delhi on Saturday, visiting Jahangirpuri on Saturday, where he received a warm welcome from locals. Despite facing threats, he issued a challenge to the BJP, saying, “If they have the courage, they should face me in elections instead of orchestrating attacks.”
No police complaint
It is surprising that despite blaming the BJP, AAP hasn’t even filed a police complaint. — Vijendra Gupta, Delhi Assembly LoP
AAP alleged that the attack involved two senior office-bearers from the BJP’s Delhi youth wing. Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj condemned the incident as a “disturbing display of desperate political tactics.” He identified the alleged attackers as Rohit Sherawat, vice president of the BJP Yuva Morcha Delhi, and Arun Dagar, general secretary. “Their roles within the BJP’s youth wing are publicly displayed on their social media profiles, making it clear they are not ordinary citizens,” Bhardwaj emphasised. In contrast, the BJP dismissed the allegations, suggesting that the supposed attack was part of a conspiracy by AAP to tarnish the party’s image. Delhi Assembly Leader of Opposition Vijendra Gupta labelled the incident as “yet another drama” staged by AAP as elections approach. “It is surprising that despite blaming the BJP, AAP hasn’t even filed a police complaint,” Gupta stated. “This indicates they are trying to create a narrative to play the ‘victim card’ and mislead people for sympathy.”
