After the resignation of former Delhi transport minister Kailash Gahlot from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the state government on Monday has announced Nangloi Jat MLA Raghuvinder Shokeen as his replacement.
Gahlot resigned from the position saying that the party faced grave challenges from within to the very values which brought it together.
“Instead of fighting for people’s rights, we have increasingly only been fighting for our own political agenda. This has severely crippled our ability to even deliver basic services to the people of Delhi,” Gahlot wrote in his letter to AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal.
The AAP said Raguvinder Shokeen will be named in the Delhi Cabinet, and he is likely to replace Gahlot and take charge of transport, Home, administrative reforms, information technology, women and child development.
Meanwhile, Gahlot was present at the BJP headquarters on Monday morning and joined the saffron party.
