The Delhi Police are investigating a potential Khalistani link to the bomb blast near CRPF School in Rohini on Sunday morning. A Telegram channel post circulated on social media has pointed to possible involvement of pro-Khalistani separatists, police sources revealed on Monday.

Suspect spotted in CCTV footage

Police sources said the CCTV footage of a suspect from the night before the incident was recovered and more than 20 people spotted near the site just before the explosion had been questioned.

The post, from a Telegram channel named “Justice League India”, surfaced late on Sunday and read: “If Indian coward agency and their master think they can hire filthy goons to target our members to silence our voice then they live in a fool’s world. They can’t imagine how close we are to them and how capable we are to strike anytime #KhalistanZindabad #JLI.”

This prompted the police to explore a Khalistani angle in the blast, with officials writing to Telegram for information regarding the channel. Teams from Delhi Police’s Special Cell, Crime Branch and local police are now working together to investigate the case.

At the blast site, investigators are examining evidence, including a suspicious white powder that may be a mixture of ammonium nitrate and chloride. Sources reported a strong chemical odour in the area following the explosion. Police suspect it to be a “crude bomb”, which damaged the school’s boundary wall as well as nearby property, including a shop and a parked car.

The blast occurred at 7.47 am on Sunday, shaking Rohini Sector 14 with a loud noise and a foul chemical smell. In response, teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Delhi Police were deployed to the scene and the area was quickly cordoned off.

In the wake of the incident, security measures across Delhi have been intensified, especially with the festive season drawing crowds to markets and public spaces. A senior police officer stated that extra forces have been deployed, including joint patrols by the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP) and other agencies to enhance vigilance.
