An awareness drive promoting healthy habits and hygiene practices was held across New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) schools on Global Handwashing Day, celebrated on October 15, organised by the ASSOCHAM Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility (AFSCR). Supported by hygiene brand Savlon, the initiative aimed to reach nearly 28,000 students in 43 NDMC schools.

A major event took place at Atal Aadarsh Bengali Balika Vidyalaya in Gole Market on Tuesday, while parallel activities were conducted in other schools to engage students. This comprehensive approach emphasised the vital importance of handwashing in everyday life.

Anil Rajput, Chairperson of the ASSOCHAM National CSR Council, stressed the need to instil good habits from a young age. “Good habits formed early make all the difference. On Global Handwashing Day, it's crucial for youth to understand and share the importance of handwashing. Every year, about 1.8 million children under five die from diseases linked to poor hygiene. Incorporating handwashing into our routines fosters healthier individuals and a stronger society,” he stated.
