Delhi-bound train pelted with stones

Government Railway Police (GRP), Sirhind, has registered a case against an unidentified person for pelting train number 22430 (down) on its way from Pathankot to Delhi with stones, resulting in serious injuries to passengers on Wednesday. One of them, admitted to Fatehgarh Sahib Civil Hospital, has been identified as Yuvraj Singh resident of Rupal village under Chatiwind police station in Amritsar district.
ASI Kuldeep Singh of GRP police station, Sirhind, said that in the complaint given to the police, Kanwaljit Singh, resident of Raia Khurd Beas, said that on July 17, he was traveling to Panipat from Beas on the train with his aunt Sukhwinder Kaur and her son Yuvraj Singh. When the train crossed Doraha railway station, someone threw a stone at the train which hit Yuvraj directly in the face, breaking his teeth and causing a head injury. He was rushed to the compartment of the guard, where he was given first aid.
Kanwaljit said that when the train stopped at Sirhind railway station, the GRP personnel took him to the civil hospital for treatment, where the doctors referred him to Patiala Civil Hospital.
The police have registered a case against the unknown stone pelter and started an investigation.
