Delhi BJP to hold protests today against ‘inflated’ electricity bills
New Delhi, July 11
The Delhi BJP is set to stage a massive protest on Friday in front of the Delhi Secretariat, demanding Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation over ‘inflated’ electricity bills. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva accused the Kejriwal government of collaborating with electricity companies to exploit Delhi residents under the guise of the Power Purchase Adjustment Cost (PPAC) and the Pension Trust.
“The Delhi government, in collaboration with electricity companies, has made complete arrangements to loot the residents of Delhi,” said Sachdeva. He highlighted two significant hikes: an 8.75 per cent increase in electricity bills under PPAC and an additional 7 per cent for the Pension Trust. Sachdeva claimed these increases were implemented without public notice or approval from the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC), causing bills to rise by 1.5 times.
“Why is the pension of retired employees of the electricity company, which is the company’s responsibility, being collected from the people of Delhi under the name of the Pension Trust?” questioned Sachdeva.
The protest will see participation of MPs, MLAs, and RWA officials. “We invite everyone to bring their electricity bills and join the movement against the Kejriwal government,” Sachdeva urged.
