Delay in providing direct access to house of martyr Sukhdev Thapar: Give appropriate attention, Prez asks CMO after nephew writes to former
After the kin of martyr Sukhdev Thapar wrote a letter to the President, raising the issue of delay in providing direct access to the house of the martyr, the President’s office has further forwarded the complaint to the Chief Minister’s Office and Chief Secretary, Punjab, and asked them for appropriate attention.
Meanwhile, Ashok Thapar, who claims to be a nephew of martyr Sukhdev Thapar and also the National president of the Sukhdev Thapar Memorial Trust said the birthplace of Thapar, located in Naughara, Ludhiana, had been awaiting a direct route from the main market for years. The trust had been pursuing the matter with the local administration, municipal corporation and state government. The Trust had recently written a letter to the President, raising the issue of delay in providing a direct route to the birthplace of Shaheed-e-Azam Sukhdev Thapar and renaming the renovated Ludhiana railway station after the name of the martyr.
Thapar said despite numerous meetings with administrative officials, the matter had been pending for years. The trust had filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court to clear legal hurdles for providing a direct route.
The President’s office had taken cognisance of the matter and directed the Chief Secretary of Punjab to provide appropriate attention in the matter.
