Dehri college organises quiz competition on Gita Jayanti
On the occasion of Gita Jayanti, a quiz competition was organised at Wazir Ram Singh Government College, Dehri, in the neighbouring Fatehpur sub-division on Thursday. The Sanskrit and Tourism Departments jointly organised a programme, which was based on the teaching of Bhagavad Gita, to commemorate the Jayanti.
Gita Jayanti is celebrated to mark the origin of Bhagavad Gita. In the competition, students showcased their knowledge surrounding verses from the Gita. Officiating college principal Sapna Bakshi said Gita was not only a text, but a profound guide to human life. She stressed upon the importance of incorporating the timeless messages and teachings of Gita into the modern life.
Rupali and Karishma secred the first position, while Ansh and Abhay Guleria won the second and third positions, respectively. Sanskrit Department’s Dr Sukhdev lauded the participants for enthusiastically participating in the event.
He said Gita originated about 6,000 years ago and its teachings were based on the sacred Upanishads, which have relevance even today.
