Around 150 students from various colleges participated in the state-level inter-college declamation, essay-writing, poetry-recitation and quiz competitions at the Gaiety Theatre here on Friday.

The event was held on the occasion of Hindi Diwas by the Department of Language and Culture. The topics for declamation were “The status and direction of Hindi as a common and official language” and “The role of Hindi in achieving the goal of developed India”. For the essay-writing competition, the topics were “The status and pace of Hindi language in the age of globalisation” and “National integration and Hindi language”.

Department Director Pankaj Lalit said the closing ceremony of the Rajbhasha Pakhwada and the Rajbhasha award distribution ceremony would be organised on September 14. PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh would be the chief guest at the event, he added.
