Death of Merchant Navy officer, GRP registers case
The Government Railway Police (GRP) has registered a case in connection with the death of an officer of the Merchant Navy in a rail track-related accident recently.
According to police sources, the victim, identified as Aman Maheshwari (in his early thirties), hailing from Gurugram, was found dead near the railway tracks in the district on November 18.
An officer of the rank of Captain, he was on his way to Nizamuddin in New Delhi from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh on the night of November 17 when the mishap took place.
The GRP launched a probe into the case after the kin of the deceased lodged a formal complaint on November 21, alleging that Aman had been killed after someone pushed him from the moving train and this should be probed as a murder case.
The complainant Anupam Maheshwari, a resident of Sector 49 in Gurugram, told the police that the family suspected foul play and it appeared to be a case of murder.
