The state-level ‘Veer Bal Diwas 2024’ was organised today by the Child Welfare Council, Punjab and the District Child Welfare Council, Amritsar, in collaboration with the district administration at the School of Eminence for Girls, Mall Road. ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ is celebrated annually in December to honour the unmatched courage, martyrdom and sacrifice of the four Sahibzadas — Sahibzada Ajit Singh, Sahibzada Jujhar Singh, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh.

Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahni spoke about the martyrdom and dedication of the four Sahibzadas to their father and urged students to draw lessons from their bravery in defending the nation and standing against injustice. She said the new generation should learn from these sacrifices.

To commemorate the young Sahibzadas, various competitions were held across the state, including Shabad singing, poetry recitation, paper reading and debates. Deputy Commissioner Sahni distributed prizes to the district-level winners from across Punjab. Dr Prajakta Awadh, Chairperson of the Child Welfare Council, Punjab; Pritam Sandhu, Secretary of the Child Welfare Council, Punjab; and Samson Masih, Secretary of the District Child Welfare Council, were also present at the event.
