In a recent virtual review meeting, Deputy Commissioner Amarjit Singh called upon teachers and principals from both government and private schools across the district to approach the National Survey 2024, known as “PARAKH” (Performance Assessment, Review and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development), with full dedication. Singh highlighted the survey’s significance in evaluating the quality of education nationwide, with the district also set to participate.

Developed by the National Assessment Centre within the National Council for Education Research and Training (NCERT), PARAKH is designed to establish educational standards, guidelines, and norms while focusing on student assessment. The initiative also aims to enhance capacity-building efforts and bridge gaps in the adoption of competency-based learning. DC Singh emphasised the need for educators to understand recent pedagogical and policy shifts to meet the evolving goals of holistic education.

The ranking of both the district and the state will be influenced by this survey’s results. Despite a high literacy rate, the district’s performance in the 2021 survey was below expectations. Singh stressed the importance of avoiding any negligence in this round. Scheduled for December 4, the survey will be administered across 107 randomly selected district schools, divided into 56 Hindi-medium and 51 English-medium institutions. Targeting students in classes three, six, and nine, the survey is accompanied by mock tests, two of which have been completed, with a third test set for November 19.

The examination will be closely monitored by field supervisors and CBSE-appointed special observers to ensure a smooth process. District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Principal Madanlal Banyal, Regional Nodal Officer Sudhir Bhatia and District Coordinator Paramjit Singh Dogra provided updates on survey preparations. Deputy Director of Elementary Education Ashok Kumar, block-level officials, and school heads also participated in the meeting, emphasising their commitment to a successful implementation of PARAKH 2024.
