A meeting to review the ongoing government telecom projects and their implementation in Chamba district was held on Tuesday. The meeting, presided over by Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal, was attended by senior officials of the Department of Telecommunications, Himachal Pradesh License Service Area.

During the discussion, The DC assessed challenges faced in expanding telecom infrastructure, and assured full support from the district administration to resolve these issues. He said joint efforts were being made by the district administration and state Telecom Department to provide quality telecom services to the remote and inaccessible areas of the district.

It had been planned by various telecom providers to lay nearly 2,600-km optical fiber lines to improve connectivity in the district’s sub-divisions and rural areas, Repaswal added. Special action plans had been formulated by BSNL, Jio and Airtel to ensure 4G saturation network connectivity across the district, the DC said.
