DC: Focus on providing better health facilities in rural areas

Dharamsala, August 30

While presiding over the meeting of the district-level Health and Family Welfare Committee, Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa said under the National Health Mission (NHM), Rs 55.91 crore has been spent in the district during the year 2023-24 to ensure that better facilities could be provided to the patients. He said a target has been set to spend Rs 52.47 crore under the NHM in the current financial year.

The Kangra DC said special focus would be made on providing better health facilities at rural health centres. Bairwa said effective steps would also be taken to organise regular meetings of Jan Arogya Samitis, constituted at the health centre to further strengthen health services in these areas.

He directed the Health Department officials to coordinate with the ICDS for child health programmes, Janani Suraksha Programme, adolescent health programmes and health improvement of malnourished children.

While instructing the Education Department officials, Bairwa said in the prayer meetings of all schools, children should be made aware about HIV, tobacco prohibition and drug menace. Bairwa said all residents and voluntary organisations should ensure their cooperation by becoming “Nikshay Mitra” in the TB-free campaign.
