Faridabad, July 14
The demolition drive against encroachments at Faridabad’s Khori village colony was launched on Wednesday afternoon.
The development came less than 24 hours after a rehabilitation policy was announced last evening.
The Municipal Corporation of Faridabad (MCF) has deputed a total of eight teams, equipped with Hydra and JCBsm for the removal of around 6,500 constructions that come under 172 acres of forest land.

The Supreme Court had, on June 7, directed the civic body to “remove encroachments on the subject forest land without any exception” within six weeks of time.
The Khori Awas Sangharsh Samiti and Confederation of SC, ST and Minorities organizations had condemned the demolition without providing rehabilitation.
More than 2,500 police personnel have been posted for security cover and to maintain law and order in the area.
“Temporary shelter will be provided to those who approach us after their house is demolished,” says DC Yashpal Yadav.
