On Gandhi Jayanti, the DAV institutions of Shimla organised ‘Run for DAV’ with the courtesy of the DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi. Around 500 persons, including students, teachers and parents, participated in the event. It was inaugurated by Jeevan Jyoti, Principal, DAV, Tutu, by waiving the ‘Run for DAV’ flag. The run was held from CTO to AG Office and back. The main objective of the event was to convey the message of Gandhi teachings, health, peace, unity, service with work, physical ability, social responsibility and importance of national values in modern society. In the girls’ category, Rishita Bhardwaj from DAV, Lakkar Bazar, Shimla, stood first, Anvesha from DAV, Lakkar Bazar, Shimla, second, and Samika Thakur from Dayanand Public School, Shimla, third. In the boys’ category, Arushveer Singh Dhiman from Dayanand Public School, Shimla, stood first, Ayan Chauhan from Dayanand Public School second, and Piyush Verma from DAV, Lakkar Bazar, Shimla, third. Principal of DAV, Tutu, Jeevan Jyoti congratulated the first, second and third position holders by giving them cheques for Rs 3,100, Rs 2,100 and Rs 1,100, respectively.
