Dance, drama and music mark annual day at Solan school

The second day of Pinegrove School’s 33rd annual day in Dharampur saw a series of cultural programmes that enthralled the audience.

Gen Manoj Pande, PVSM AVSM VSM ADC, Former Chief of Army Staff (COAS), was the chief guest at the event. The soulful musical journey of the symphony orchestra and a western music choir captivated the audience.

Later ‘Eklavya’, a play, brought to life the timeless and unmatched dedication and respect for one’s mentor and unwavering passion for learning. ‘Queen of Jhansi’, a breath-taking dance drama, was an apt tribute to the queen’s valour and resilience.

The annual report, presented by the tiny tots of the school, highlighted the accomplishments of the school in the current academic year. Special attractions such as photography, robotics, work experience and art exhibitions added to the charm of the event.

General Pande appreciated the efforts of the management in ensuring all-round development of the children.

He further advised the students present to invest in character, competence, conduct and compassion, which would assist them to grow into well-rounded and impactful individuals.

In the evening, the flood-lit ambience of the Sant Stadium was an apt backdrop for the rhyme and rhythm of the school Rock Band, who performed a captivating Qawwali, and a stand-out Hindi vocal performance by exchange student Angela Sangabriel. The vivacious Girls’ Pipe Band left everyone awestruck.

The young Grovian gymnasts’ display and the yoga performance were much loved by the audience.

The presentations by the Indian Classical Music vocalists and percussionists — each ending in a ‘jugalbandi’’ — left the audience awe struck. The evening culminated with the agile Pinegrove dancers presenting the timeless tale of ‘The Jungle Book’ through the art of dance-drama.
