Damage in Haroli areas due to altered flow of rivulet: Himachal Dy CM Mukesh Agnihotri

Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri today visited the flood-affected areas in Haroli Assembly segment after Sunday’s downpour during which swollen tributaries of the Swan river damaged nearby civil structures, including a petrol pump and some industrial units in Bathu and Bathari villages.

25% failure in power supply

  • 150 electrical transformers had been damaged in Haroli segment, affecting 25 per cent failure in power supply.
  • Electricity Board officials have been directed to procure poles, conductor and transformers to restore electricity supply, whichwill be completed during the next two days.

Addressing mediapersons, Agnihotri said the natural flow of the rivulet had changed due to some reasons, leading to the damages, adding that the Deputy Commissioner has been ordered to inquire into the matter and submit a detailed report to the government. He directed the district administration to extend all possible assistance to the affected victims.

The Deputy CM informed that 150 electrical transformers had been damaged in Haroli segment, affecting 25 per cent failure in power supply, adding that Electricity Board officials have been directed to procure poles, conductor and transformers to restore electricity supply, which he said will be completed during the next two days.

Agnihotri expressed grief over the death of 14 persons during flashfloods in the region. A vehicle carrying 11 persons from Dehlan and Bhatoli villages in Una subdivision to Punjab had been washed away in a rivulet in Punjab along the inter sate border on Sunday, while three migrant workers, including two women, working in an industrial unit and a child were washed away in Bathu village. He said the state government would take up the matter with their Punjab counterpart for constructing a bridge over the culvert in Jaijon where the vehicle was washed away on Sunday.

Director Industries, Rakesh Prajapati also conducted parallel visits of the Bathu-Bathari industrial area to assess the losses due to floods. He said the department would do the needful to provide assistance to rebuild public infrastructure.
