Dallewal determined to sacrifice life for farmers’ cause: SKM leader
Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) leader and state general secretary of the BKU (Sidhupur) Kaka Singh Kotra today said that farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal was determined to sacrifice his life for getting the demands of the farmers fulfilled. He said this while addressing a gathering at the Khanuari border.
Expressing apprehension of forceful removal of fasting Dallewal from the Khanauri protest site, Kotra called upon the farmers to strengthen the morcha. He said if they succeeded in keeping Dallewal at the morcha site despite a police action, it would be an achievement for them.
He said Dallewal had made up his mind to sacrifice his life as people were criticising farm leaders that they created problems by blocking roads or organising protests.
Kotra also gave a call to the farmers to move towards the Khanauri protest site from all across the state.
An “ardas” was also performed by farmers at Khanauri and in villages across the state for the success of the morcha and wellbeing of Dallewal. Dallewal has reportedly lost 12 kg weight so far.
Bittu urges farmers to end stir, hold talks
Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu has urged farmers not to send a "Marjeevda Jatha" towards Delhi on December 14 as the issue can be resolved through talks. On a visit to Patiala, he said he was open to talks with protesting farmers and take up their issues with the government, while urging them to end their protest. Farmer leaders, on the other hand, maintained that they had been sitting at the border since February 13 and Bittu was free to come and talk to them.
