Cycle rally for drug-free Punjab reaches Jalandhar

Under instructions from the Commanding Officer, National Cadet Corps, Col TYS Bedi, a cycle rally has been organised to spread awareness against drug addiction.

The cadets along with Chief Officer Ranjit Singh and Girls Cadet Instructor Muskan reached the 2 Punjab NCC Battalion headquarters on Thursday. Commanding Officer Col Vinod Joshi welcomed them warmly. Describing the cadets as a source of inspiration for the youngsters, Col Joshi learned about the experiences of their Punjab travelogue. He said that the NCC cadets have also become part of the drug de-addiction campaign of the Punjab government.

Chief Officer Ranjit Singh said on November 25, the cadets were flagged off by Group Commander Brigadier Rahul Kumar Gupta from NCC Academy, Ropar. The main objective of the rally is to motivate the youth to stay away from drugs, keep the environment clean and participate in adventurous activities, he said. Girls Cadet Instructor Muskan said that seven girl cadets are also part of the rally.

The cycle rally that started from Ropar reached Jalandhar today via Patiala, Sangrur and Ludhiana. After halting here for two days, they will go to Nawanshahr. Five Army soldiers are also part of the rally. Subedar RD Singh and Havildar Jaswinder Singh said the Army has made complete arrangements for the safety of the cadets. Later, all the cadets and associate staff reached Lyallpur Khalsa College, where Principal Dr Jaspal Singh welcomed them. Appreciating their commitment and courage for a noble cause, Dr Singh praised them. He said all arrangements had been made for the comfortable stay of cadets.
