A man of Jagadhri city was allegedly duped of Rs 1,01,999 by cyber fraudsters in the name of deactivating a plan on his credit card.

The victim, Gourang Sharma, of Shyam Sunder Puri of Jagadhri, told the police that he received a call on November 12, and the caller told him that a ‘protection plan’ had been activated on his credit card. He said the caller told him that if he wanted to deactivate the plan, he would have to tell him an OTP sent on his mobile phone.

“I told him the OTP. Shortly after sharing the number, Rs 1,01,999 was deducted from my credit card,” the complainant told the police.

On the complaint of Gourang Sharma, a case was registered against unidentified fraudsters under Section 318 (4) of the BNS at the police station, cybercrime, Yamunanagar.
