Cyber cell recovers 24 stolen mobile phones in Palwal dist
The cyber cell of the local police has recovered as many as 24 mobile phones which were stolen or missing in the district. These were handed over to their owners by the police here on Wednesday.
A spokesperson of the district police said the mobile phones had been traced by the cyber cell after receiving information lodged on the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal. Operated by the Union Government, the portal is a centralised system implemented to manage and track mobile devices using their International Mobile Equipment. The market cost of the recovered mobile phones is around Rs 4.25 lakh. The cyber cell has managed to recover as many as 192 mobile phones worth Rs 36.20 lakh since January 1.
He said while users can block their mobile phone if it is lost or stolen, the status of their blocking or unblocking requests could also be checked. He added that the residents could approach the local e- disha centre to lodge a complaint in case they lost their mobile phones. The police have asked the residents to lodge the complaint immediately to curb the possibility of misuse of such equipment.
