The host Chandigarh University stormed into the prequarterfinals of the All-India Inter-University Rugby Championship. Both (7s and 15s) teams of the university registered convincing wins in their respective matches to move ahead in the championship.

The hosts defeated LNCT University, Bhopal, 39-0 in the 7s event, while in the 15s even, the team defeated Nirvana University, Jaipur, 45-0. In the 7s category, KIIT, Bhubaneswar, recorded a 64-0 win over Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh State University, Aligarh, while University of Mumbai overpowered Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, 40-0. University of Calicut recorded a narrow 17-15 win over Guru Nanak Dev University. Amritsar, and Shivaji University, Vidyanagar, defeated Swarnim University, Gujarat, 33-0.

Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University defeated Paher University, Udaipur, 53-0; Bharatiya Vidyapith University, Pune, defeated Punjabi University, Patiala, 14-0; Karamveer Baurao Patil University, Satara, ousted Sri Khushal Das University, Hanumangarh, 41-0; and Lovely Professional University overpowered Bhagwant University, Ajmer, 31-0.

Kerala University defeated Kurukshetra University 26-5, Lucknow University defeated Dr Baba Sahib Ambedkar Marathwada University 20-0, LN Mithila University, Darbhanga, defeated University of Sports Board Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, 12-7; and Panjab University defeated Technical University, Jaipur, 21-12.

In the matches played in the 15s category, Mumbai University defeated Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi, 22-0; Maharaja Suheldevgarh University, Azamgarh, outplayed Paher University, Udaipur, 12-0; and Lovely Professional University defeated Bhopal Nobles University, Udaipur, 31-0.

Earlier, on the second day, University of Lucknow recorded a 47-0 win over Raj Rishi Bhartihari University, Alwar; and LN Mithila University, Darbhanga, defeated Dr BR Amedkar University, Agra, 37-0.
