The wholesale crackers market, set up like previous years at the grain market, has failed to draw customers as of now. The dealers said owing to the ongoing farmer agitations, the buyers were reluctant to come out to make purchases. Crossing fingers, the dealers are hopeful that from tomorrow onwards they would receive a good footfall of buyers.

The Cracker Association’s president Pradeep Kumar said over 40 shops were set-up at the grain market from where crackers would be sold to retailers and individuals in bulk. “But since there was panic surrounding the farmer agitations and nothing was clear which highways will be blocked, the buyers did not come to purchase the crackers. We hope that we start getting good number of buyers from tomorrow,” Kumar said.

It may be mentioned here that each year, crores are spent by consumers on crackers in Ludhiana. Though a lot of awareness has been generated to celebrate Green Diwali still, the ones who feel without bursting crackers, Divali was incomplete, come to buy crackers.
