Cracker sale restricted to Paddal Ground in Mandi
In view of public safety, Mandi Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan has issued an order restricting the sale and storage of firecrackers to the small Paddal Ground in Mandi. This directive, effective from October 15 to November 1, aims to prevent fire hazards during the Diwali festival, especially in the crowded Mandi market.
The order prohibits the sale of firecrackers at any location other than the designated ground, with strict penalties for violators. Additionally, no individual is permitted to sell fireworks without a valid licence.
To enforce these regulations, the Deputy Commissioner has directed the Superintendent of Police, Municipal Corporation Commissioner, and the SDM Sadar to take necessary actions. The SDMs across the district have also been instructed to ban the sale of firecrackers in crowded areas for public safety.
In Mandi city, the Sadar SDM is tasked with ensuring that temporary stalls for firecracker sales are set up at Paddal Ground and that no unauthorized sales occur elsewhere. Temporary licenses for vendors selling firecrackers at the designated location will be issued to further regulate the process.
